The Department for Transport (DfT) sponsors a number of free programmes & services to help organizations identify areas in transportation where fuel emissions & costs can be minimized. Some of them are as follows:

Managing Your Business Travel:
Transport is the fastest growing source of fuel emissions in the world, and commuter and business travel constitute nearly 40% of transportation. So by adapting measures like managing work related travel and promoting sustainable alternatives through a travel plan a company can reduce fuel emissions & make its operations more sustainable.

Implementing green Fleet Practices:
Organizations on a mission to minimize fuel emissions associated with business travel can seek free & independent advice from Energy Savings Trust (EST) which is also funded by the DfT. It encourages organizations to adapt green fleet practices including purchase of lower carbon vehicles; changing driver behavior so that savings can be made on fuel consumption & vehicle usages can be reduced.

Managing Your Logistics:
Organizations can use funding facility through Freight Facilities Grants (FFG) to switch over from road to rail or water for moving freight that can reduce the environmental impact of logistics. Even the Freight Best Practice programme has developed a number of free products to help freight operators improve efficiency and reduce fuel emission.
